Community Events

As part of our commitment to knowledge translation and capacity building, we also host events for people living with dementia and care partners, seniors, as well as health service providers.

Most notably, we host and facilitate the North West Dementia Working Group, a group for people living with dementia and care partners whose vision is to ensure that people living with dementia are treated with respect, dignity, and afforded their human rights. Their mission is to be a voice for people living with dementia.  This group has been active in advocacy and education, and more recently, hosted a conference for people living with dementia on September 22-23, 2019 called "Living Well With Dementia: Creating Dialogues of Hope".

We also started and facilitate Dementia Cafe: A Place to Belong in partnership with Urban Abbey with funding from the North West Local Health Integration Network and the support of the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.

We host and support various networks and committees, including the North West Dementia Network, a Dementia Research Advisory Committee, and the Caregiver Support Committee.
