re-THINKing dEMENTIA...
OUR VALUES

COURAGE We believe that to combat the stigma of dementia, we all need to have courage, to have the strength to stand up to stigma of dementia. In partnership with people living with dementia, we seek to question dominant discourses and challenge traditional views of dementia.

COMPASSION We believe that we all have a responsibility to be more careful with each other, to put ourselves in others’ shoes, to try to understand the world as others see it. We work to make a more caring and “care-full” world.

CAPACITY BUILDING We believe that through partnerships, we can make the web stronger that supports people in their dementia journey. We work to bring partners together to build the capacity of communities to support people on their dementia journey

COLLABORATION We believe that any successful endeavour requires many partners. Working together with others enables us to create better research and knowledge translation.

CREATIVITY We believe that imagination and art can inspire hope, dreams, and possibilities for change.  We believe in envisioning possibilities not just challenges, and that imagination and art can create possibilities into realities.

OUR GOALS

·         To promote collaboration and partnerships among researchers, health and social service providers, people            living with dementia and cognitive difficulties, and partners in care
·         To partner with people living with dementia and their care partners in knowledge translation and research
·         To promote research collaboration in dementia and seniors' mental health
·         To enhance community capacity to address needs related to dementia and seniors' mental health
·         To gather expertise together in one place as a “one stop” place for research and knowledge translation on                dementia and seniors' mental health
·         To partner with communities in northwestern Ontario and beyond
